Will I need a passport?

Yes, you will need to have a passport that doesn't expire for at least 6 months after arrival (so valid through at least September of 2024). If you are a US citizen, you do not need any additional travel visas; just your passport.

How do I get to Antigua?

You will fly into Guatemala City. You can book in advance an airport shuttle (details here) that will ensure someone is waiting for you to take you from the airport to your hotel in Antigua, which is where all our events are.

What about kids?

We want everyone to have as fun and a stress-free time as possible, so we are leaving it up to you to decide what to do with the little ones. Some may prefer to leave the kids back home with trusted friends or family. Others may prefer to bring the kiddos along for the trip. We just ask that if you bring kids to the actual ceremony, you do your best to make sure they're entertained and happy...the only crying we want during the ceremony are Ryan and Anastasiia's tears of joy. (Anastasiia, those better be tears of joy!!!) Anyway, use your best judgement about what works best for you, and let us know your plans!

Is this the same as the island of Antigua?

No, that's a different place. While Anastasiia and Ryan visited that Antigua and Barbuda in Dec 2021, they won't be there in February 2024. So make sure you book the right flight.

How safe is Guatemala for tourists?

Like any country, there are safe spots and less safe spots. This is true in the US as well (e.g. New York City is pretty safe, while Baltimore is much less so). We will be spending our time in and around Antigua, Guatemala, which is a very tourist-friendly and safe area of Guatemala. You can read more about Antigua here in this New York Times write-up.

UPDATE: Conde Nast Traveler just picked Guatemala as one of its 24 best places to visit in 2024

Dress Code

What should I wear?

The wedding ceremony and reception will be black-tie optional. That means: for men, tuxedo or a dark suit, white shirt, and a tie. For women, a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit.

For the Welcome Dinner on Sunday night, the dress code will be semi-formal attire (suits and no ties for men, cocktail dresses or pant suits for women).
